Khaled Hourani was born in Hebron ; a city known for leather manufacturing and ceramics. Inspired by the city’s artistic ambiance; Hourani embarked on drawing figures and monuments present in his environment at the age of sixteen. Even though he did not study art at academic institutions, his work as a calligrapher and his early involvement in art brought him closer to art.

Hourani’s first exhibition was in Jerusalem . He exhibited some of his works with few other known Palestinian artists at the time such as Nabil Anani and Sliman Mansour. He still owns most of the works from that period especially the ones never published or exhibited.
