Cycle
The wonder of life and nature is all about a Cycle. A miraculous cycle that constitutes the space for our individual and collective existence and experience and that of the cosmos embracing us.
In the universe, the universal cycle brings in elements of life through the recurrence of the seasons. In a more frequent cycle, we live the alternation of the day and night, the light and dark.
Our cycle as humans starts with our birth to our growth from children to adolescents to adults, through which we go in and out our own coinciding and interlocking cycles and it ends by death only to start another cycle.
For women, specifically, their cycle starts from their personal experience of being daughters, growing to girls and women, probably becoming mothers to grandmothers, where another cycle starts with their grandchildren. Throughout each of these phases the woman explores a fusion of cycles; her daily routine, her adventures, her naivety and maturity, her emotional composition and biological transformations. Cycle also contains the meaning of the intimate: its role in the woman’s body and the source of her passion. This source provides her with the passion to live, create, and experience inner change; all those throughout the different phases of her life.
Cycle is an exhibition which presents the works of Palestinian women artists from different generations, exploring multiple ways of self expression through diverse forms of media.
In each work there is a different portrait for an emotional status for the artists in one particular phase of a cycle. A cycle of daily life, of questioning existence, of philosophical wonders and speculation. |
