Paintings included in the Standby exhibition have been created in a context of a series of works that I have been exhibiting since 2006. Devoid of political deductions, I have sought to give body to life experiences without any attempt to beautify the complexities one lives through under siege and in exile in today’s world, and particularly in the Arab homeland.

As an artist coming from an ongoing national tragedy that has been harrowing us over the last 60 years, I wish that my art could be viewed as that of a witness and as an expression of resistance.
