Who drowns in whom?
As a form of death that is most capable of creating emotions, drowning takes away life, life that already seems as if it had never been. Hazem, in his quiet investigations, tries to pull drowning back into an aesthetic context. Is that possible? His work might suggest a way.
A touch of beauty can still be generated from Hassan Hourani’s tragic death despite all the bereavement it has led to. This might be ultimately what art is trying to do, even with a tragedy like that.
