I have always loved drawing and painting, especially flowers and plants - fascinated by the variety of their colours, shapes and beauty of line, and looking closely at them, discovering the wealth of intricate patterns.   It has been a challenge to try to capture some of these on paper in watercolours and pen drawings. I often see something in my surroundings which excites me and I need to sketch immediately what has caught my eye - the shape of a particular tree, an unusual building, people, animals, even an interesting flower pot or whatever, so I always carry a small sketchbook to be at the ready.
