With this new exhibition and this release I present you with a group of selected paintings realized during a period of a two-year research in the subject of the siege. At first the search embarked to explore the physical siege of the body, and then it shifted into a human siege gnawing the reason and the soul, leading to the works of this exhibition. And the search continues… The form disintegrated while the space claimed all that it desires from the painting. No time or place for the space to end, all the outer lines of phrases, images and things are intensified, so the conscience unravels and the truth becomes ambiguous. I neither want the meaning nor want to halt, I neither want verification nor wish to stray into suffocation. I am carried by its outer frame only to spread over it, and from beyond I come to bear my existence on the surface. It is the secret space amongst us for one of us to break out from the other, and return then escape again, for there is no gate to close or open. Hani Zu'rob |
