Artistic Identity

I am a Palestinian photographer; to me, photography is a mission and a world of its own.I often take shots of the marginalized and of the other in Palestinian society, i.e. those who are not put under the spotlight in the conflict with the Israelis.I worked with my family and with Palestinian workers and am currently working on a photo-text project on mental patients in Bethlehem Psychiatric Hospital.

In my work I use a Medium Format Camera and make photos in black and white because through these two colors I can communicate my message.I use many of the documentary and impressionist techniques and edit my photos in a way that I can control, as an artist leaving very small space for coincidence.
