Colours of Life and Liberty With will power and resolve Palestinian artists use their colours to express their quest for freedom and justice. With determination they overcome the state of isolation that the Israeli occupation has imposed on them. Art besieges the occupation laden with hatred and fire. It breaks the arrogance that overrules the land and shatters the barricades which are planted to demean and oppress love and the daily course of life. This exhibition is a forceful message from Palestinian artists to the world- all the World. It is a call for their people to cling to life; that their struggle for freedom is also a struggle against the cruelty of occupation. It is a call for beauty, the beauty of liberty and life. The "International Solidarity Day with the Palestinian People" which the United Nations initiated in 1977 and which UESCO has been celebrating since 1986, is proof that the struggle for liberation by the Palestinian people both in Palestine proper and in the Diaspora, manifests itself in different ways. It shows that art is as an expressive tool and is a form with which the Palestinians can overcome their daily tragedies. This exhibition is an expression of intellectual and cultural continuity between the Palestinians and all the peoples of the world. The hosting of this exhibition by UNESCO is a call for the world to recognise that our conscious understanding of freedom is a value which should not be given different interpretations in our planet which is a global village.
