Larissa Sansour Larissa Sansour’s video works brings the contemporary political reality of the occupied territories to the heart of gallery space. The intention behind her works is to place the audience in the position of Palestinians on the ground and to relay the different experiences of the war on Palestinians. In her Peace activists v Israeli Tank it is clear from the title and imagery that we are in a situation of confrontation. Her footage the artist shows the overwhelmingly unequal power relation between the two sides and extreme force employed by the IDF. In Gaza Sansour conveys the experience of strikes with the foreboding flyovers of military planes, while her black outs leave it to our imagination to envisage what ensues,theaccompanying soundtrack presents us with different time frame of the whole aftermath of bombardment as Palestinians painstakingly search the rubble for their belongings. |
