Cherished Personal Treasures
|
In a three meter show-case there is a large display of objects: certificates, photographs, cups
and saucers, keys, jewelry, and a concoction of many small, personal items, all gathered
from different individuals. To the owners, each of the items carries a story, perhaps not truly
significant to others - one that records and reflects an intimate detail or a “moment” in his or
her family history. The objects are ordinary, some even mundane, still there is an undeclared
charm in them. Viewed jointly, the sum experience from these objects gives a flavor of the
past, of singular and collective memory, of taste and fashion. They are in a sense an ode to
the Ramallah that was, Ramallah before being affected by so much change
