A Tale of love & Revolution
Burhan Karkutli
|
As a painter, I love beauty in everything. Beauty is essential for life and that is why it affects me quickly and deeply. I don’t mean here the beauty of faces only, but all that carries that adjective: the beauty of action, the beauty of chance, the beauty of courage. Revolutionary political struggle carries the same beauty that we see in the eyes of a beautiful woman. It is the other side of the beauty of revolution because revolution is the dream to achieve a beautiful human world. The world is not beautiful by its trees and flowers only but by what is more important, by its free human being. What do I care about the beauty of the world if it does not provide happiness to its inhabitants? What do I care about the beauty of a forest or a mountain if there is on its slope the body of a human being killed treacherously and oppressively? Burhan Karkutli
