A Tale Of Love & Revolution

This collection of Karkutli’s épreuves d’artiste was dedicated personally to his German friend Yourg Lang, a supporter of the Palestinian Revolution who spent ten years in Beirut, Lebanon. In 1982, when the Israeli army invaded Lebanon and reached the outskirts of Beirut. Lang and his young family had to leave their home in Beirut overnight, leaving most of their possessions behind. Their friends went to the abandoned apartment of the Langs to rescue some of their most precious belongings before the house was looted and burnt. Among these belongings was this collection of drawings by Burhan Karkutli. It later made its way to Amman and finally, in 1994, to Ramallah. Curated by Amer Shomali
