Young Palestinian Artists

“Young Palestinian Artists” exhibition was the result of the art production program launched by al Hoash in April 2010 aiming at supporting and encouraging new productions by young and emerging artists. The exhibition was part of "The Jerusalem Show IV" which was organized this year by al mamal Foundation in partnership with al Hoash. The exhibition featured eleven newly commissioned works by artists from the Golan Heights all the way to Gaza, and the produced works were diverse in medium and style presenting works of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video and others. The participating artists: Karim Abu Shakra, Moayed Amleh, Mirna Bamieh, Mohamad Fadel, Mohamad Hawajiri, Dima Hourani, Yazan Khalil, Randa Madah, Nissrin Najjar, Salama Safadi and Inass Yassin. The selection of the commissioned artists was done over a process that started in April 2010. Palestinian Art Court – al Hoash announced an open call for proposals, inviting in young artists to submit proposals for productions. More than 60 entries were received and a short list of 25 proposals were examined and discussed by a jury of curators, critics and artists who were invited to look through the proposals and make the final selection. The jury that was held on June 2nd, and included: Suleiman Mansour, Tina Sherwell, Samar Martha, Jack Persekian and Rawan Sharaf. The Jerusalem Show was opened on October 1st and the 'Young Artists Exhibition' was premiered on October 4th, in a special event on the program of the Jerusalem Show IV. The art work were presented in four venues in Jerusalem; al Hoash Gallery, the African Community, Swedish Christian Study Centre and the French Cultural Centre in Jerusalem. The exhibition ran through 6 November 2010 in Jerusalem and is planned to tour to other Palestinian cities. Palestinian Art Court – al Hoash seeks to make this program an annual program in support of young artists. The program and exhibition were organized and produced by Palestinian Art Court – al Hoash and was funded by The European Union.
